ReadMe file for Macintosh users 3/31/99 All ACIP texts and graphics use universally supported formats that can be used on virtually any computer, including Macintosh computers. In many cases, Macintosh users will need to call up the desired items from within an appropriate application such as a word processing program, file viewer, or graphics program. Although ACIP's own AsiaView program is designed to run under Windows 95/98, it should be possible to run it on a Mac using Windows 95 emulation. If you don't have Windows emulation, there are still a number of very useful Mac programs included with Release IV, including: 1. GOfer search utility for conducting fast, sophisticated boolean-operator searches on the ACIP text database; 2. Tibetan on the Macintosh, including Tibetan fonts, ACIP file converter, and programs and keyboards needed for creating Tibetan-script documents; 3. Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing PDF files; 4. Sambhota for the Macintosh, including utilities for converting ACIP texts to Tibetan script.
